Research Synopsis

During my PhD, I worked on different enzymological questions concerning, e.g., the correct functional annotation of proteins within protein families, the factors that govern allosteric regulation in enzyme complexes, and the evolution of substrate specificity in enzymes with shared ancestry. In the Synmibi group, I shifted the focus of my research from single enzymes to more complex systems. Specifically, I am working on the engineering of novel E. coli strains for biotechnological applications and the development of biosynthetic pathways for sustainable bioproduction.
